Households in Dutch Zeeland act to lower peak demand

A thousand households on the Dutch municipalities of Walcheren, Schouwen-Duiveland and Tholen are load-shifting, successfully changing their electricity consumption to times with plenty of solar power. In a joint trial set up by grid operator Stedin and energy companies DELTA Energie and Eneco, participants were asked to make minor changes in their behaviour.

UK launches principles for navigating grid transformation

As the UK looks to further its move towards net zero, the transformation of its electricity grid is central to delivering clean, secure and affordable energy. The Government Office for Science has published a set of key principles for policymakers to consider when developing policy to strengthen and expand the national electricity grid. The principles support the embedding of social science into the government’s mission to become a clean energy superpower.

CorPower: developing the UK’s largest wave energy project

CorPower Ocean, has signed an agreement to build a 5MW wave energy project at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney, Scotland. Scheduled for deployment in 2029, the 5MW array is expected to become the UK’s largest wave energy project. Deployed at EMEC’s grid-connected Billia Croo wave energy test site, it will comprise 14 wave energy converters, operating for up to 15 years.
